Elongation Rate
Oct 21, 2015
When do test of metal tensile strength, after the sample broken, the percentage of the increased length of broken section and the initial length is called elongation rate. It is symbolized δ. Elongation rate reflects the plasticity of material. The greater the elongation, the greater the plasticity.
δ is the percentage of increased length of broken section and initial length when metal material break by external force. According to different length of test sample, elongation rate has two types:
1. When the length of test sample is 5 times as long as diameter, the elongation rate after test is symbolized δ5.
2. When the length of test sample is 10 times as long as diameter, the elongation rate after test is symbolized δ10.
